Ubuntu Netbook Remix + MIS Wind U123 + SquashFS Error

I just wanted to post how I was able to get Ubuntu 9.10 NBR installed on my MSI Wind U123.

While trying to get NBR installed I kept getting a “squashfs” read error. I got this error using a USB Thumbdrive and with USB DVD Rom. To get this to install working correctly I first updated the BIOS to the latest version. Here is the LINK.

Once the BIOS is upgraded boot into the BIOS and change the “AHCI Mode” from “disabled” to “enabled”.

This is probably not a 100% fix but it is worth a shot. It worked for my Wind U123.

Factory Reset Motorola Droid

You may want to reset your Motorola Droid for a laundry list of reasons but those reasons aside I will step through the procedures for resetting your Droid back to its original state.

1st) Power down the device. If your Droid is frozen just pull the batter for a few seconds and then reinstall.

2nd) While powered off slide the keypad open, press and hold the “X” key. While holding the key press and hold the power button. A few seconds will elapse and the device will present you with a white triangle and a yellow explanation point.

3rd) With triangle visible slide the keypad closed and simultaneously press the “volume up” and “camera” button (you may need to press a couple times).

4th) Once successfully invoking both keys a menu will appear and instruct you to use the “d-pad” to select the “reset” option and depress the gold “OK” button on the keypad.

I hope this help.
